Conference speakers

William Angst is CEO of Swisscom Immobilien AG. Before that he was an independent consultant to (among others) various companies of the Swisscom Group. William Angst studied and obtained his doctorate at the ETH Zurich.
   
Ruedi Brunner is Manager of the Technical Building Management Department of ETH Immobilien. He has been working at the ETH Zurich for 25 years and was instrumental in the introduction of the building automation systems.
   
Reto Bühler is a member of the Management Board of Liegenschaften-Betrieb AG, the real estate company of Migros-Genossenschafts-Bundes. Trained as an architect and information scientist, Reto Bühler is in charge of IT, personnel and administration.
   
Charles Carpenter recently became Facilities Manager with Harte Hanks in Austin, Texas. He is also a graduate student at Texas State University where his research explores the relation of facilities on employees and productivity. Charles Carpenter is a Certified Facility Manager and he is a former president of IFMA Austin.
   
Marc Christen has been on the ETH Board since 2005 and is responsible for real estate controlling. In addition he is an independent consultant in the area of facility management and has worked on the Facility Management European Norm.
   
Farook Dadi is Section Chief, Operations and Maintenance Section, at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), responsible for Facilities Management of 3 million SF of Corporate Headquarters facilities in Washington, D.C.
   
Amaury de Varax is Business Development, Marketing and Communication Director at Faceo. Before assuming his current position he was Vice President Strategic Accounts at Suez Industrial Solutions and Department Director for Business Development at Primagaz.
   
Alex de Vries is consultant specialized in quality management in Facility Services. He teaches Facility Services at the Hospitality Business School in Deventer (NL): He started his career as Contract Manager Facility Services at NV Nederlandse Gasunie and he is still connected to Gasunie.
   
Gerhard de Vries is Director of Facilities since 1998 and responsible for Services, Logistics and Real Estate of Friesland Bank. Before assuming his current position he was Facility Manager of Achmea, an insurance company in the Netherlands.
   
Bruce Kenneth Forbes is Chairman and CEO of Archibus. He has been involved with FM automation technologies since 1976 and is a pioneer in the development of automation tools and methodologies for architects and facilities managers.
   
John Gilleard is Professor and Head of Department of Building Services Engineering at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He joined the university in 1990 having and established Asia’s first graduate programme in Facility Management in 1996.
   
Christopher P. Hodges is a Principal with Facility Engineering Associates of Washington, DC, USA and has over 25 years of experience in building systems and facility management. He is an active member of IFMA, as President of the Capital Chapter and as a course instructor.
   
Gregor Hotz is a qualified electrical engineering technician. Since 2006, he has been a consultant at pom+Consulting AG, where he is responsible for the company’s RFID activities. Prior to that he was responsible for setting up the Development and Support department at Bibliotheca RFID Library Systems AG.
   
Yoshiki Ikeda is the Director and Chief of staff office at Japan Facility Management Promotion Association since 2005. He is also technical advisor for Nihon Meccs Corp. Before assuming his current position he had been working for the Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp. (NTT) and lead the set up of FM infrastructure at NTT facilities.
   
Walter Iten is a member of the Management Board of ETH Immobilien and is in charge of Building Management. He was instrumental in establishing facility management at the ETH, and is in charge of the “proBA” project, which is the basis for the current organization.
   
Marleen Klavers-Bakker is a logistic/facility officer of the Royal Netherlands Air force since 2002. Her goal is to organize the Facility Service on military missions abroad (e.g. in Afghanistan). She completed her master degree at the University of Greenwich in 2006.
   
Jim Lisowski is currently Facilities Manager for Lotek Wireless Inc., that designs and manufactures fish and wildlife monitoring systems for environmental researchers. He is a professional member of IFMA since 1998 and the Canada Green Building Council since 2003.
   
  Peter McLennan is Course Director for UCL’s MSc Facility and Environment Management since 2002 and an active member of the UK’s FM academic community. He is a member of the BIFM’s Knowledge and Innovation Committee.
   
Dr. Vishal Mallick is founder and CEO of the software producer Performance Buildings GmbH, a spin out from ABB where he was Head of Portfolio Management at ABB Real Estate Ltd. He is a graduate of Bristol University with a PhD in Mechanical Engineering.
   
Michael Marchionini is Managing Partner of the FMK GmbH in Berlin. He has worked in FM since 1994, focussing on the conceptual preparation of CAFM projects, and on the implementation of information management to support object specific FM processes.
   
Adolfo Molina Esteban is Managing Partner in C3 and Consultant Partner in Facilitec. He is a lecturer in the area process management, and quality and knowledge management at the Instituto de Empresa, La Salle University and Camilo José Cela University.
   
Fabrizio Pedrazzini is Head of Employee Care Within the Human Resources Management team of Roche S.P.A. in Italy since 2005. His responsibilities are mainly in the areas of General Services, Personnel Management and Employee Benefits
   
Heidi Marja Rasila is a research scientist working at the Laboratory of Construction Economic and Management at Helsinki University of Technology, Finland.
   
Christiane Rettinger is a research assistant at the University of Applied Sciences (FHTW) in Berlin. Qualified as a computer scientist and facility manager, Christiane Rettinger is in charge of research cooperation between the FMK GmbH, the FHTW and Inno-FM.
   
Stephen Sakach is a Senior Facilities Officer with the International Monetary Fund (IMF). He is an adjunct faculty member of George Mason’s Facility Management Certificate Program, teaching Operations and Maintenance, Facilities Technology and Emergency Preparedness.
   
Ronald Schlegel is Chairman of the Executive Board of Axima Switzerland. Prior to that he was Executive Vice President at Elektorwatt-Ekono. In addition, he is Chairman of the Board of GSGI (Group of Swiss Building Technology Industry).
   
Michael Schley is CEO and founder of FM:Systems and is responsible for guiding the company’s product direction. He was the original developer of the FM:Forecast and FM:Space software programs and is recognized for his expertise in CAFM.
   
Martin Schmidli has been the Managing Director at Sulzer Immobilien AG since 2002. Trained as a civil engineer (HTL), Martin Schmidli started working for Sulzer Industrial and Office Construction in 1990, and has since held various positions, most recently that of Managing Director of Sulzer Corporate Real Estate PLC.
   
Robert Schneider, dipl. Ing. ETH, is a member of the Management Board and partner at Amstein + Walthert AG. In this engineering company he is in charge of the Facility Management Consulting division. In addition, he lectures at various colleges, and is a founder member and board member of IFMA Switzerland.
   
René Sigg has been Managing Director of the consulting company Intep in Zurich and Munich since 1997. He is in charge of facility management projects with an integral planning approach for clients. In addition, he has been a lecturer in Facility Management at the Fachhochschule Bern since 2002.
   
Konrad Sommer is Vice President of Professional and Business Services of the Océ Group since 2003. He is responsible for Software and Professional Service activities. Before assuming his current position he has been working for different print and document management suppliers.
   
Hermen Jan van Ree is Senior Research Fellow at the Workplace Innovation Centre at University College London since April 2005 and currently working on ‘World-class service delivery’ - a model to assess and benchmark Real Estate departments and ‘FM service quality indicators’.
   
Francisco Vázquez Medem is President and owner of 3G office. He has over 16 years of experience working as an architect and consultant in space planning and new ways of working. He is also founder and President of IFMA Spain and a member of EuroFM.
   
Dr. Marko Virant is CEO of Avireal since June 2007. Prior to that he was member of the Executive Board of Mibag. He is mechanical engineer with a PhD of the Swiss Federal Institute Zurich.
   
Patrick Vogel, is a qualified architect (FH/MBA) and has employed since 2000 by reflecta ag, a consulting and management services company in Bern. Prior to this he worked as a project manager for major real estate projects in Switzerland and abroad.
   
Prof. Dr. Ulrich Walder has been Professor of Construction Informatics at the Technical University of Graz since 2004. He is particularly concerned with questions relating to real estate valuation and security management in FM. Ulrich Walder is a founder member of IFMA Switzerland.
   
Jaap G. Wijnja is lecturer and advisor facility management and corporate real estate management at the Institute of Facility Management of Hanzehogeschool Groningen since 2001. He is also coordinator of regional member activities of Facility Management Nederland.
   
Dave Wilson is Director of Corporate Service of Macro. Before assuming his current position he was Managing Director of Edifice. He also is Board Member of BIFM, was President of the UK Chapter of IFMA and Board Member of EuroFM from 2005 to 2006.
   
Paul Yearly is the CEO of Integrated Facilities & Portfolio Management for Jones Lang LaSalle since 2004. He is also a member of Jones Lang LaSalle’s Global IFM Board. Before assuming his current position he was Managing Director of the firms EMEA Strategic Consulting Group.
   
Joachim Ziegler has been employed by M+W Zander in the FM business segment since 1998. He is responsible for large FM contracts and he has been responsible for the area of Mergers & Acquisitions and international projects since 2006.

Ricarda Berg has been in charge of Global Sales and Marketing at M+W Zander since 2004. In addition, she is on the Board of IFMA Switzerland, in the Technical Commission of Wädenswil University, in the Advisory Committee at CUREM, and is active on the Advisory Board of the Logistics Association at GS1.
   
Daniel A. Berti has been head of Professional Support at Wetrok AG since 2003. Originally he studied art history and archaeology in Zurich, before becoming involved in the training of caretakers and building cleaners. He also works as a facility management consultant.
   
Victoria Hardy is the Academic Department Head of Design and Facilities at Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston. Prior to her current position, she was the primary tenured Facility Management faculty at Ferris State University. Before joining Ferris State University, Victoria Hardy spent 20 years managing facilities. She was named by IFMA Distinguished Member of the Year for 2005.
   
  Susanne Hofer has been a lecturer in hospitality management at Wädenswil University since 2005. Prior to that she held various executive positions with international hotel groups for more than two decades. Susanne Hofer is a qualified hotelier and business administrator and holds an International Master of Business Administration degree.
   
Thomas Madritsch has been in charge of the FM and real estate business courses of studies at the FH KufsteinTirol (University of Applied Sciences) since 2001. He is a board member of Facility Management Austria (FMA) and International Facility Management Austria (IFMA), as well as being a member of the board of EuroFM.
   
Prof. Dr. Michael May is Professor of Computer Sciences and Facility Management at the University of Applied Sciences Berlin (FHTW Berlin) since 1994 and Head of the Competence Center FM (CCFM). Besides he is a board member of the German Facility Management Association GEFMA, head of GEFMA’s IT (CAFM) workgroup and represents GEFMA at EuroFM.
   
Mark-Erik Nota is professor and manager in hospitality management in the health care sector. He is also member of several boards of supervision in the health care sector, and independent interim manager and consultant in the field of business development in general and technical support services. In this position Mark-Erik Nota is responsible for many publications and presentations.
   
Helena Ohlsson joined Johnson Controls as Senior Consultant in November 2006. She is a member of the EuroFM board, the former president of IFMA Sweden and has been the chair of the program advisory group for the EFMC2007 Helena Ohlsson began her career as an architect, then moved in to strategic planning before committing herself to Facilities Management.
   
Guido Walt has been President of the Maintenance and Facility Management Society of Switzerland (MFS) since 1990. In 2001 he founded a one-man company called Wear Management and the international network: Wear Management – Free Documentation. Guido Walt holds various lectureships in the area of maintenance.
